America’s Scariest Halloween Destinations

If you’re planning to do some traveling this autumn and want some well-curated scares, these incredible Halloween attractions might be just what you’re looking for!

Knott’s Scary Farm

Starting in September and running through Halloween night, Knott’s Berry Farm transforms into Knott’s Scary Farm! This is one of the largest Halloween events in the world and it features an unbelievable number of activities.

With mazes, themed areas such as CarnEVIL and the Forsaken Lake, Halloween shows, and fully produced interactive experiences, there’s plenty of reasons for this one to take the number one spot on the list!

Location: Knott’s Berry Farm, 8039 Beach Blvd, Buena Park, CA 90620

Dates: September 16 through October 31

Reaper Haunted House

Located in Little Rock, Arkansas, Reaper Haunted House is one of the top haunted houses in the country. Too much information can ruin the surprises the house has in store for you, hence their “no pictures!” policy. They do post their own pictures, though, which should give you an idea of what you’ll find inside.

Location: Lunn Rd. North Little Rock, AR 72118

Dates: October 1, 2, 8, 9, 14, 15, 22-31, November 1

Hellscream Haunted House

A thoroughly creepy experience with plenty of jumps scares, Hellscream Haunted House definitely plays up the theatricality with a complete backstory behind the haunting.

At this attraction, Jack Slaughter, owner of Slaughter Brothers Circus, and his evil clowns roam the house, ready to terrify anyone unlucky enough to wander in.

Locations:

3021 N. Hancock Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80907

3910 Palmer Park Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80909

Dates: September 24, 25, October 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, 30, 31, November 5, 6

Bates Motel and Haunted Attractions

If you’re looking for a more complete experience, much like Knott’s Scary Farm, but would rather travel to the eastern side of the U.S., then the Bates Motel and Haunted Attractions are for you!

The Bates Motel is an intense haunted house experience, and they just added an outdoor experience called The Psycho Path in addition to their world-renowned Revenge of the Scarecrows Haunted cornfield trail. There’s also Zombie Hunt laser tag and axe throwing, too!

Location: 1835 Middletown Road (Rt. 352) Glen Mills, PA 19342

Dates: September 24, 25, October 1-3, 8-31

Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights

If you’re more interested in combining your terror with a theme park experience, then you’ll love Universal Studios’ entry on the list. With multiple haunted houses, scare zones, live entertainment, and attractions, it’s a Halloween-themed world. And yes, some of the usual rides are still open during Horror Nights!

Location: Universal Studios Orlando, 6000 Universal Blvd, Orlando, FL 32819

Erebus Haunted Attraction

Once the Guinness World Record holder for the largest walk-through haunted attraction, at Erebus, you’ll be sent through time by a mad scientist, where you’ll encounter terrifying props, puppets, and animatronics. You might even get eaten by a dragon!
